Sustainability is no longer limited to long-term infrastructure projects—it is becoming an essential part of how organisations conduct events and engage with stakeholders. Demonstrating this commitment, the Foundation for MSME Clusters (FMC), in collaboration with Sunkonnect, successfully delivered a fully verified Carbon Neutral 9th Responsible BMO Awards event.
The event’s total carbon footprint was assessed at 40 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent (40 tCO₂e). To neutralise these emissions, Sunkonnect facilitated the retirement of 40 Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) sourced from a certified solar power project registered under the globally recognised Verra Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).
The initiative demonstrates how organisations can take meaningful climate action by accurately measuring event-related emissions and offsetting them through verified, high-quality carbon credits. Rather than treating sustainability as an afterthought, the event incorporated environmental responsibility into its planning and execution.
Sunkonnect facilitated the retirement of 40 Verra VCS Verified Carbon Units from a certified solar project to fully offset the event’s assessed 40 tCO₂e footprint.
Carbon-neutral events help organisations strengthen their ESG commitments, demonstrate environmental leadership, and contribute towards global climate goals while building greater trust among stakeholders.
